WILLIAMS, Gus (1847-1915)
American composer/actor, author of such songs as Belle of the Ball, (1873) Banner Song, (1874) and the famous See That My Grave Is Kept Green (1878). An important performer in the 1870s, he was best known as a “Dutch act” or a comedian who used a German dialect.
