SERKIN, Rudolf (1903-91)
Bohemian-born concert and recording pianist. He was widely regarded as one of the greatest interpreters of Beethoven in the 20th century.

Mr. Serkin was considered a child prodigy. He made his public debut with the Vienna Philharmonic at age 12. Serkin played his first New York City recital at Carnegie Hall in 1937.
