Description:American-born character actor and producer who was the lead in Universal Pictures’ 1935 thriller “The Werewolf of London”.
SIG: vintage dedicated and signed album leaf (1935). Accompanied by a 10″x8″ black and white glossy character still; both professionally matted. The signature was acquired in-person during the Broadway run of Tobacco Road.
Hull made his Broadway stage debut as Jeeter Lester in the long-running play Tobacco Road (1933). Based upon the 1932 novel of the same name by Erskine Caldwell. The play ran on Broadway for a total of 3,182 performances, surpassing Abie’s Irish Rose to become the longest running play of the era. As of 2023, Tobacco Road still the 20th longest-running Broadway show in history, as well as being the second-longest running non-musical ever on Broadway.
From 1917-1966, Mr. Hull appeared in 114 silent and sound films (his last was The Chase). Despite a phenomenal career in entertainment, Mr. Hull never won any industry awards; une grande tragédy.
