FORBES, Malcolm (1919-90)
American entrepreneur and publisher of Forbes Magazine, founded by his father.
ISP: Inscribed Signed Photograph. A handsome 8″x10″ black and white glossy, heavy-weight portrait the verso of which bears the photographer stamp of celebrated Canadian Yousef Karsh No. 7. In the lower left hand margin Forbes has penned “To the Browns from Malcolm Forbes.” Accompanied by a 1987 TLS from his personal secretary. This image is particularly desirable in that it was taken by Karsh of Ottawa.
In addition to being an avid autograph collector, Forbes was an unabashed promoter of capitalism. He was reputed to have a networth of between $400 million and $1 billion at the time of his death. Besides autographs and books, Forbes collected homes, yachts, aircraft, art, motorcycles and Fabergé eggs.
