Description:American singer and a bandleader of the swing era. Eckstine’s recording of “I Apologize” (MGM, 1948) was awarded the Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 1999.
SP- Signed photograph 3.5″x5.5″ black and white, matte-finish. Appears to be signed in fountain pen or ballpoint pen ink. Some slight nib scratch where ink flow first stalled. Slight bending of corners as the photograph was under corner mounts. Overall fine. Uncommon.
Singer of ballads and swing-era band leader. His smooth bass and distinctive vibrato broke down barriers throughout the 1940s, first as a leader of the original big-bop band, then as the first romantic Black male in popular music.
