DADAGLIO, Luigi Cardinal (1914-90)
Italian cardinal; distinguished papal diplomat; Major Penitentiary.
TLS – Typewritten Letter Signed, one page 1957, as a member of the Apostolic Delegation of Australia. Intruiging letter to a priest who reported another priest who had care of a young man. Could be an early example of childhood abuse, but we cannot say for certain. We have intentionally blocked relevant information from this much longer letter. A priest referenced in this letter was invited to Australia from Italy by Archbishop Mannix, circa 1949-50, in order to minister to Italian Catholics in Victoria. Merits further research.
Dadaglio held numerous diplomatic posts: Venezuela, Spain; Australia. He was secretary of the Congregation for Sacraments and Divine Worship; Pro-Major Penitentiary of the Apostolic Penitentiary.
