(BEAUREGARD, P.G.T. (1818-93)
US Confederate General of Louisiana Creole descent who started the American Civil War by leading the attack on Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861. After the War he returned to Louisiana and advocated black civil rights including suffrage.
EPH – Ephemera: fine steel engraving cartouche at Chapultepec (charge of the Confederates near the James River). Minimal foxing. Left and right hand borders trimmed slightly, otherwise very good to fine.
