Description:Italian cardinal; the son of Senator Ottaviano Acciaioli. Auditor General of the Apostolic Chamber. Dean of the Sacred College of Cardinals.
DS – Document signed. Impressive vellum document, signed and dated 29 November 1669. Intriguing in that Acciaioli signed on the very day that he was proclaimed a cardinal – deacon in the papal consistory of that date. This document appears to refer to the estate of Johannes Petrus Terentius that was to go to a monastery of nuns of St. Clare, Gubbio. Signed lower right adjacent to his blind-embossed wax/paper seal by Acciaioli and. Comes with a reprint of a vintage copper – plate engraving of Acciaioli. Merits further research!
Two other members of the Acciaioli family were cardinals. Created a cardinal-deacon in November 1669, with dispensation for not having yet received minor orders. Named papal legate in Ferrara (1670); reappointed in 1680. Cleric of the Apostolic Chamber and commissary delle Armi, 1654. Acciaioli served as Secretary of the Holy Inquisition from 1717-19. Sub-dean of the Sacred College of Cardinals. Advanced to Dean of the College in 1717 (remained until his death).
