KAYE, DANNY (1913-87)
Price: $225.00
Description:American actor, comedian, singer, and dancer. His performances featured physical comedy, idiosyncratic pantomimes, and rapid-fire novelty songs.
SP – Signed Photograph. A Bruno of Hollywood black/white glossy publicity still. Dedicated and signed To Sammy, Best wishes always, Danny Kaye. It is said that Sammy was a regular patron of the original Chez Paul restaurant/nightclub in Chicago. Trimming to left and right borders, not affecting image, photographer’s stamp or the autograph. Overall very good.
Among his many film credits are: Up In Arms; Wonder Man; The Secret Life of Walter Mitty; Hans Christian Andersen; Knock on Wood; and The Court Jester.
A popular and zany star in the late 1940s, Kaye received a special Oscar in 1954 and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1981.
Knowledgeable collectors are familiar with Kaye’s off-screen temperament in dealing with autograph seekers. He would sometimes yell at or totally ignore them. If you were dumb enough to approach him during a meal you would get your comeuppance.
Uncommon in early signed photographs.
