JAVIERRE-ORTAS, Antonio Cardinal (1921-2007)
Spanish cardinal (his brother is a priest and one of the most distinguished and successful writers and journalists in the Spanish language countries).

Dean of the Theological Faculty of the Pontifical Salesian University (1959-71), rector (1971-74). He had an active participation in several congresses, especially on fundamental theology. Creator, co-founder and secretary general of the “Symposium of Fundamental Theology in Louvain and Gazzada. Member of the Faith and Constitution Department, Ecumenical Council of Churches. Consultor of the Vatican Secretariat for Christian Unity. Preached the spiritual exercises for Pope St. Paul VI and the Roman Curia. Published several works on ecclesiastical history.
In 1976, Javierre was appointed Secretary of the Sac. Congr. for Catholic Education. Created a cardinal in 1988. Librarian and Archivist of the Holy Roman Church (1988-92). Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments (1992-96). In January, 2007, on the feast of San Giovanni Bosco, founder of the Salesians, the cardinal celebrated mass in the chapel of his residence, near the Vatican. After dinner, the cardinal, religious of the Congregation fo the Servants of Jesus Christ Priest, who took care of his household, and some close friends, watched the movie “Don Bosco”.
